Thank you, Andy. Appreciate the kind words. And spread the word. It’s a different world and I don’t think I like it right now. I know we get more news more quickly but it sure seems like the planet is going downhill.
What a great article, Henry. Brings back a lot of memories. My mother managed to remain at home and didn't go to work till my dad died from type 1 diabetes complications, so happened on the day I turned 15 years old. My dad purchased a 1957 RCA color TV costing $400, and we watched shows like Bonanza and Peter Pan. You didn't miss anything with color, the TV reproduced the Ponderosa pine trees as brown colored <g>. I did restore the first RCA color TV made in 1954 and costing $1,000, a model CT-100. So happens this first color TV was a "lab model" with so-called "full color demodulation" and the color reproduction was excellent.
Again, great article. No doubt people could write about stuff for hours.
Great thoughts Henry. Hit home after something which happened here at our home just last night! You might remember I'm the guy who had a massive stroke almost ten years ago. With tax refund money i was able to buy my wife a new kitchen table set last week. It was delivered Friday morning. Jill insisted that we dine at it as a family last night. I knew it was her plan. I also knew the kids weren't going to play along. They didn't. I was teasing/complementing her on the attempt and she made me cry. I told her she was beautiful when she was being all domestic. She said she's not allowed to be domestic anymore. She has to work. She misses and wants to be domestic full-time again. Just a housewife again. Would quit her job in an instant if she felt she could. I gave her all the years of that as promised that my body would allow. She's not angry with me. Just sad about the situation. Broke my heart to hear.
Wow. What timing. And the kids still wouldn’t bite. Women were the glue that kept the house together. I hope that new dining table gets some family time use here soon. All the best.
An excellent piece everyone should read. And, I still prefer black and white.
